Shannon 38 HPS sloop rig with self tending boom Exclusive Shannon "Scutter" Rig
Shannon 38 HPS Sail Plan and Exterior Design

The Shannon 38 HPS is a real sailboat, not a motorsailer with a small sail plan. The generous sail area combined with the sea proven and patented hull design allows the 38 HPS to sail to windward without any draft appendages in only 36 inches of water. Available with twin 75HP diesel engines or a single 155HP engine, the 38 HPS will cruise economically at 12 knots with a powering range of over 500 miles.

The 38 HPS offers two truly unique sail plans for the ultimate in easy sail handling: 1) a sloop rig with a 100% jib on a self-tending boom with roller furling; or 2) the exclusive Shannon "Scutter" double headsail rig with a 140% genoa. All sail sheeting, reefing and furling lines are led aft for single-handed sailing. (more about Shannon sail technology>)

The spacious cockpit creates a comfortable place to sail or lounge at anchor. The cockpit helm has excellent visibility and a folding table provides a wonderful place for dining outdoors. The 38 HPS is available with an extended fiberglass hardtop over the cockpit with a large Lexan overhead hatch for ventilation and sail viewing or a roll-up soft bimini.
