The Shannon 53 HPS Aft Cabin Layout
Located aft of the saloon is the owners' very private and comfortable retreat. Because of the substantial beam in the aft sections of the Shannon 53HPS, all the amenities required by discriminating owners can be provided. This aft cabin has a head with shower, contains a washing machine and clothes dryer, a private cabin to starboard which doubles as a work area and a spare cabin for a quick catnap or an extra guest, and convenient access to the covered aft lounge deck.

(above) Light and ventilation are requirements not only by Shannon owners, but by Walt Schulz and so he designed this master stateroom with opening ports and large screened sliding windows overlooking the aft lounge deck. The owners changed the original position of their large king+ size berth so that they could lie in bed and see the changing vistas outside the windows. The bookshelves, cabinets, lockers and drawers are all solid cherry wood finished with gloss varnish.

This view (above), looking through the clear glass swing doors in the shower, is the very roomy head, with lockers, drawers and cabinets for toiletries, spare towels and laundry, and opening ports.
(left) Continuing aft from the owners' stateroom is the outside covered lounge deck, which is also accessible from the upper deck. Protected from the heat of the sun, this lounge area connects the outdoors with the indoors; it is a place to read, enjoy breakfast, lunch or cocktails, dive from the swim platform, or just share everyday pleasures.
