Burton Karp's Shannon 38 #18 Joie de Vivre wins the Daytona to Bermuda 900 mile offshore race, beating an impressive fleet that included all-out racers such as Circus Maximus. Joie de Vivre won this biannual race again in 1983, and then Dr. Robin Gipps, aboard his Shannon 38 #38 Pilarica made it a "threepeat" in 1985.
